Irving M. London, M.D., the founding chairman of the Department of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, was chosen in 1971 to design a new medical sciences program leading to a Harvard Medical School M.D. degree. The program, now called the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology (HST), has an interdisciplinary approach to biomedicine and has achieved numerous academic and research milestones.
